Shay Azoulay (b. 1971, lives and works in Jerusalem) is one of Israel’s leading painters, whose work has been widely exhibited, both in Israel and internationally. His solo exhibitions have been held at, among others, the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, the Herzliya Museum of Contemporary Art, Yad Vashem, the Memorial Center in Tivon, and galleries in Tokyo, Chicago, New York, Amsterdam, and Beijing. His works have been featured in numerous group exhibitions, including at the Jewish Museum in Berlin, the Israel Museum in Jerusalem, the Katzen Arts Center in Washington DC, the Haifa Museum of Art, and the Museum of Islamic Art in Jerusalem. Azoulay has received several awards, including the Moses Prize for Painting (2007), the Morasha Prize from the Tel Aviv Museum of Art (2008), the Encouragement of Creativity Prize from the Ministry of Culture and Sport (2011), the Minister of Culture’s Prize (2019), and the Landau Prize from Mifal HaPais (2020).
